During the Angelus, the Pope explained what the style of the missionary consists of. He said that it should be characterized by sobriety.

POPE FRANCIS
“For such are the messengers of the kingdom of God. Not omnipotent managers, not immovable officials, not celebrities on tour.”

The Pope explained that the important thing for God is that his missionaries love him. Having a good social position or having great communication skills is secondary. In fact, he remembered the example of the saints, who were not perfect. They also experienced the bitter taste of failure.

POPE FRANCIS
“This too is poverty: the experience of failure. The story of Jesus, who was rejected and crucified, anticipates the destiny of his messengers. And only if we are united with him, dead and risen, can we find the courage for evangelization.”

Despite the heat, some 15,000 people gathered in Saint Peter's square to pray with the Pope. Throughout this month of July, his public schedule has been reduced for him to devote more time to rest and work in other fields. For example, in the past years he has devoted this time to writing some of the most important documents of his pontificate.
