For the month of July, the pope has asked for prayers for priests, especially those who are tired and lonely in their pastoral work.
Pope Francis says that priests “with their virtues and defects, work in many different areas.” He says that their work “on so many active fronts... cannot remain inactive after a disappointment. Thus, it is good for them to remember that the people love their priests, need them and trust in them.”
He asks that everyone join in praying for priests, so that those who experience fatigue and loneliness in their work as a pastor can “find help and comfort” through their relationship with Christ and other priests.
