Pope Francis centered his words on the birth of St. John the Baptist, whose feast was celebrated June 24. The pope explained that John was born to elderly Elizabeth and Zachariah when nobody expected it. This, he said, proves that nothing is impossible for God.

“God doesn't depend on our logic and our limited human capacity. It is necessary to learn to trust and silence the mystery of God. And contemplate with humility and silence His work, which is revealed in history and often exceeds our imagination.”
The pope recalled that John's birth surprised the people of the time, who spoke of this miracle. Therefore, he said that Christians, even today, should welcome God's works with the same joy and gratitude.

'How is my faith? Is it joyful? Is it open to surprises from God? Because God is the God of surprises. Have I 'tasted' in my soul that sense of stupor that gives the presence of God that sense of gratitude?'
Finally, Pope Francis recalled that every human being has the mark of God. He said that parents are God's collaborators in generating life, a sublime mission that makes each family an authentic sanctuary of life.
