In June, more than 80 representatives from countries participating in the next WYD traveled to Panama, to see first-hand how the preparations are going.
The Panamanian bishops and WYD organizers from the Vatican hosted the event. The meeting addressed issues such as accommodation, registration, logistics and security.
Vatican representatives asked the Panamanians to remember to build bridges and not walls while planning and executing the event. The main organizer, Archbishop of Panama José Domingo Ulloa told them that WYD will be a historic moment for the Church and the world.

'The next step is to keep going and never lose the human aspect. We can move ahead using new technologies, but keep the human aspect. We cannot forget, this is a great team that responds to the responsibility and challenge that Pope Francis gave the Church in Panama, together with the Dicastery.'
The Panama WYD will begin on January 22, 2019. Hundreds of thousands of young people from all over the world will participate, especially during the events with the pope on January 26 and 27.
