Pope Francis has published a message for an International Migration encounter in which he highlights that people must be protected, regardless of their migration status.
The Holy Father also calls for a management of the migration crisis that prioritizes values such as justice, solidarity and compassion.
The pope writes, “This demands a change in mindset: we must move from considering others as threats to our comfort to valuing them as persons whose life experience and values can contribute greatly to the enrichment of our society.”
Pope Francis says a solution requires the aid of the entire international community, as it affects many countries without adequate resources to resolve the crisis.
