In the Angelus on Sunday, the pope asked for prayers for the summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un, to put an end to tensions between the two Koreas.

POPE FRANCIS
'May the talks that will take place in Singapore in the coming days contribute to the development of a positive path to ensure a peaceful future for the Korean Peninsula and for the whole world.'

During the homily, the pope reflected on Sunday's Gospel. He warned of a behavior that, if continued, destroys families, friendships, communities and even society.

POPE FRANCIS
'It is possible that a strong envy of another's goodness and good works can lead us to accuse him or her falsely. Here there is a deadly poison: a malice with which, in a premeditated way, you want to destroy the good reputation of another. Accepting Jesus' word makes us brothers and sisters, and part of Jesus' family. To speak poorly of others, to destroy their name, makes us part of the devil's family.'

The pope advised that Christians immediately reject any feelings of resentment, so that they do not take root in their hearts.

POPE FRANCIS
'If we examine our conscience, and we realize that this bad weed is growing inside of us, we should immediately go to confession in the sacrament of Penance, before it grows and leaves its terrible fruits, which are incurable.'

It was very hot in St. Peter's Square, but about 20 thousand pilgrims braved the high temperatures to pray this prayer with the pope.
