Pope Francis asked for prayers for Africa during the Sunday Angelus. It was after he remembered the beatification of Leonella Sgorbati, an Italian nun killed by hatred against the faith in Somalia in 2006.
POPE FRANCIS
“Let's pray together for Africa, so that there may be peace there. Our Lady of Africa, pray for us.”
In his brief catechesis, he reflected on the Holy Trinity, since the Catholic Church celebrated the feast day Sunday.
POPE FRANCIS
“He is God in heaven, but also down here on earth. Therefore,we don't believe in a distant entity, no; nor in an indifferent entity, no. On the contrary, we believe in the love that created the universe and has created a people. It became flesh, died and rose for us and as the Holy Spirit, everything transforms and leads to fullness.”
In spite of the Roman heat in St. Peter's Square, there were 25,000 people. Among them was this choir which had sung in the basilica the day before.
