After hearing strong statements like this, some have called Pope Francis a 'communist.' However, communication experts such as Michele Zanzucchi argue that labeling the pope as such is wrong.

Michele Zanzucchi explains that the pope's economic and social thinking clashes squarely with the worst side of globalization: that which reduces people to consumers of goods, benefiting a few, whose only interest is to enrich their lives.

Pope Francis looks with concern at the paradoxes of globalization: a more-connected world that, instead of improving the opportunities of the weakest, takes advantage of them to benefit a few.
