Prime minister of Romania presents Holy Father with tree, seeds for Vatican Gardens

The prime minister of Romania, Viorica Dăncilă, met with Pope Francis at the Vatican. 

During the encounter, the Holy Father and Dăncilă discussed positive bilateral relations between the nations and how to improve them through academic and cultural initiatives as well as projects promoting the common good. 

Later, the prime minister presented the pope with some Romanian seeds and a tree, which are destined for the Vatican Gardens. For his part, Pope Francis gave the prime minister an “angel of peace” engraving. 

Following their meeting, Dăncilă said the Holy Father plans to visit her country in 2019. Catholics make up around five percent of the 21.5 million Romanian people.
