Pope Francis prayed the Regina Coeli with all the pilgrims in St. Peter's Square wearing hats and holding umbrellas to shade them from the hot sun.

He first reflected on the Gospel of the day, where Jesus presents Himself as the true vine and invites all to remain in Him to bear fruit.

POPE FRANCIS
'It's about staying with the Lord to find the courage to get out of ourselves, from our comfort, from our restricted and protected spaces, to move us into the open sea of the needs of others and give a broader breath to our Christian witness in the world.'

In addition to reflecting on the Gospel of the day, he also mentioned many current events, including the recent attack against Christians in Nigeria and the Inter-Korean Summit with President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

POPE FRANCIS
“I prayerfully accompany the positive outcome of the Inter-Korean Summit last Friday and the courageous commitment undertaken by the Leaders of the two Parties to achieve a path of sincere dialogue for a Korean peninsula free of nuclear weapons. I pray to the Lord for the hope of a future of peace and more fraternal friendship.”

He also asked Christians to join him in praying the rosary for Syria during May, the month dedicated to Mary.
