As is tradition, Pope Francis prayed the Regina Coeli on Easter Monday from the window of his study in the Apostolic Palace.
The pope explained that Jesus brings brotherhood through Easter, as Christ broke down the sin that separates men. Thus, the Holy Father asked for this message of peace to never be forgotten.
POPE FRANCIS
“It's very important in our time to rediscover the brotherhood that was demonstrated by the first Christian communities. Rediscovering how to give Jesus a place that never separates, that always unites.”
Before 20,000 faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square, Pope Francis called for an authentic brotherhood.
POPE FRANCIS
“Without fraternal sharing, an authentic ecclesial or civil community cannot be created: there can only be a group of individuals motivated by their own interests.”
The pope explained all that could be achieved through a true brotherhood guided by the common good and called Christians to give priority to the weakest and most needy.
POPE FRANCIS
“Only fraternity can guarantee a durable peace, can defeat poverty, can resolve tensions and wars, and can eliminate corruption and criminality.”
Before leaving, the Holy Father also called again for peace and the immediate liberation of those deprived of their freedom.
