This group of children couldn't believe what was happening. Pope Francis invited them to join him in the popemobile during his ride through St. Peter's Square. From there, they helped the pope greet pilgrims who braved the bad weather to be there.
POPE FRANCIS
“Dear brothers and sisters, good morning. Good morning, even though it's a bit of an ugly day, isn't it? If the soul is happy, though, it will always be a good day. Isn't that so? Good morning.”
During the catechesis on the Mass, the pope spoke about the silence following the homily and the Creed. However, he reflected more deeply on the Universal Prayer.
POPE FRANCIS
“In this moment of universal prayer, following the Creed, it's the time to ask the Lord the most crucial things at Mass, the things we need and want. 'It will be provided.' In one way or another, but it will be provided. Anything is possible for whoever believes, the Lord said. How did that man to whom the Lord said this respond, anything is possible for whoever believes? He said, 'I believe, Lord, help my little faith.' We can also say to the Lord, 'I believe, but help my little faith.' The petition must be made with this spirit of faith.”
Among the pilgrims who braved the bad weather to be at the Audience were groups of all types. One from Spain came to donate some of the money its diocese had raised during its Jubilee to the pope. The rest of the proceeds will go toward aid projects for drug addicts.
