Pope Francis met with the president of one of the poorest countries in the world, the Central African Republic. Faustin-Archange Touadéra paid the Holy Father a visit at the Vatican.
In its press release, the Holy See says it appreciates “the positive efforts made to restore political and institutional stability” in the country.
The Vatican also asks for collaboration between everyone in the nation, and the international community, “to promote peaceful coexistence and national reconciliation.”
Recently, some 600,000 people in the Central African Republic have been forced to abandon their homes.
The country is in the hands of armed groups who destroy everything in their path, ruthlessly torturing and killing, according to bishops.
The bishops assure that “boys and girls are exposed to all forms of violence, including sexual abuse and forced enlistment in armed groups.”
