Hundreds of participants at the convention organized by the Italian Association of Catholic Teachers met with the pope at the Vatican.
The association was created in 1945, fully post-war, to promote literacy in the country.
“Beloved Father: with feelings of sincere joy and complete gratitude, I respectfully greet His Holiness, on behalf of the more than 400 participants of the 21st National Convention.”
Pope Francis told them that nowadays, children must learn to hold dialogue with those who look or think different.

“That they be free of the widespread notion that being valid is being competitive, aggressive, hard on others, especially those who are different, foreigner or whoever is seen in any way as an obstacle to self-affirmation. This is the 'air' that our children frequently breathe.”
The Holy Father also told them that parents and teachers must stop seeing each other as enemies. To conclude, he asked for a more comprehensive education and one focused on responsibility.
