In constant preparation for the World Meeting of Families in Dublin next August, the Catholic Bishops in Ireland have prepared a virtual Advent calendar that aims specifically at prayer within the family.

Through the opening of the calendar doors, there are the daily readings, meditations, book recommendations and music especially catered to the season of Advent awaiting on the other side.

“This year's Advent Calendar has family right at its center. It also has resources for schools and for parishes, but it's all about the family and families that make up our Church.”

Through the website, they also are suggesting another way for every member to engage in this time of preparation for Christmas.

'We want families to take on board the random acts of kindness that we are going to be suggesting every day on our Advent Calendar. Also there's going to be acts of charity that we're going to be encouraging families to take on.”

These could be anything from helping the homeless to assisting a family in need during the holiday season. The whole point is to take the virtual meditations and put them into action this December and beyond.
