It is not a novelty that Pope Francis wants to approach people and personally understand their needs. That is why the pope wants bishops to listen to young people during the next Synod. He wants them to be the protagonists of the event, because he assures that they also have something important to say.
POPE FRANCIS
April 8, 2017
'This is the Synod of young people and we want to listen to you. Every young person has something to say to others. He or she has something to say to adults, something to say to priests, sisters, bishops and even the pope.'
Preparations for the 2018 Synod are already underway. It will be held in October with the theme: 'Young people, the faith and vocational discernment.' The Vatican is using the most widespread tool to reach people: the Internet.
It has launched this website to report the latest news related to the event. It is in Spanish, Italian and English. It provides the news on the Synod2018 account through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
It also includes the questionnaire that the Vatican opened in June for youth between ages 16 and 19. At the end of November, the deadline to send the results will close. The Vatican will study them and use them to prepare for the next Synod of Bishops.
