The pope began the Sunday Angelus twice this week, after a malfunction with the speakers.

POPE FRANCIS
'Let's start again. Good morning! Brothers and sisters, God does not avenge! God loves, He does not avenge. He waits to forgive us, to embrace us.'

The pope recalled that Christian faith is not a sum of moral norms and precepts, but a proposal of God's love for humanity.

POPE FRANCIS
'This is the great novelty of Christianity: a God who, despite our errors and our sins, does not fall back on His word. He does not quit and above all, He does not avenge.'

Pope Francis concluded by recalling the recent beatification of Fr. Arsenio da Trigolo, an Italian Capuchin from the late nineteenth century. He was the founder of the Sisters of Mary Most Holy Consoler and was known for being a great confessor.
