This officer of the Spanish Civil Guard has not come to Rome to rest, but instead to allow others to rest.

It is part of an operation entitled 'Safe Tourism,” an exchange agreement between the Italian Carabinieri, so as to better attend to Spanish natives.

'Our main mission is to support and help Spanish tourists with any type of help that they need. Above all, we are here to give information, as many people want to know where the city's monuments are. However,  unfortunately we also attend to allegations, bus robberies, careless stealing of wallets, cell phones and tablets. Unfortunately, this is the normal the day-to-day here in Rome.'

They are here to jointly patrol with the Carabinieri and Civil Guards, as well as help tourists or even become an interpreter.

'The Spanish natives are very happy, especially because the first thing they say is, 'I feel at home.' It gives them the possibility to speak Spanish, to understand each other. Also to express that they have suffered a rubbery, a crime in a calm manner. It pleases them.”

Right now there are civil guards in Rome, Florence, Venice and the Amalfi Coast. On the opposite side, the Carabinieri is in Madrid, Málaga, Ibiza and Formentera.
