Since June 29, Leonardo Visconti di Modrone is the new governor general of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. He has been appointed by Cardinal Edwin O'Brien for a four-year period.
The Order wanted to present its new manager with a short three-minute video meant to be shared in social networks. It was an update following the example of Pope Francis with his monthly video messages.
Visconti di Modrone replaces Agostino Borromeo, who has remained in charge for the last eight years.
The change is framed in a climate of continuity, according to the same Visconti di Modrone:
LEONARDO VISCONTI DI MODRONE
Governor General
'I hope to be able to carry out this responsibility in the best possible way, with dialogue with all my colleagues, with their support and prayers, following in the work of my predecessor, Agostino Borromeo, who will always be at my side with his support and advice in this first phase of my mandate.'
The Order of the Holy Sepulchre currently has 30,000 members from 40 countries. They have as specific mission to help the Church in the Holy Land, as well as to faithfully live out the evangelical teachings and to bear witness to Christ.
The Knights and Ladies of the Order follow the model of the first lay gentleman of the institution, Blessed Bartolo Longo.
