The smiling archbishop Justo Mullor died this morning in Rome, at the Pío XI Clinic. He was 84 years old.
John Paul II first appointed him nuncio of Côte d'Ivoire and later pro Nuncio in Burkina Faso and Niger. Following this, he was a Vatican permanent observer for the UN institutions in Geneva, and later a pontifical representative in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. He also served as nuncio in Mexico. From 2000-2007, he presided over the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy, which prepares the Vatican diplomatic corps.
