The new ambassador has over 30 years experience in the diplomatic field and speaks six languages. He visited the pope with members of his family and some employees of the embassy.
As a gift, he gave Pope Francis a replica of a menorah found among the remains of a synagogue destroyed in the sixth century.

The pope returned the gesture with a copy of his encyclical 'Laudato si',' also greatly appreciated by the ambassador.
