After the General Audience, Pope Francis blessed this lifesize statue of the Gaucho priest riding his mule, Malacara.

Fernando Pugliese, an Argentine, is the artist behind the sculpture. ;

Pope Francis declared Jose Gabriel del Rosario Brochero a saint on October 16 in a ceremony at St. Peter's Square. ;
