With the current refugee crisis at hand, there are many examples of people opening not only their homes, but their hearts to the incoming victims.

One such example is with Catholic Sister, Maria Concetta and Muslim Imam, Moussa Bawa who have been serving side-by-side for the past 30 years in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The two have been working toward peace and unity amongst the people, until the Imam's recent death this summer 2016.

'He was a great example of faith, as a person and of collaboration, and he was a great support to the Muslim refugees, who fled Bangui to come here, in Zongo. I find Imam Moustapha very gentle and I think we will continue the same dialogue.

Sr. Maria is the Zongo hospital's midwife and has delivered more than 33,000 children, during her time in the Congo.

The Imam used to offer housing and moral or spiritual guidance for the refugees, whether they were Muslim or Christians. His voiced his method before his passing in July.

IMAM MOUSSA BAWA
Zongoâ??s Imam
'I welcomed many Central African refugees into my home. With the women and children, they crossed over the river here to DRC. At the mosque, I preach patience and peace. May peace be between us. Between Muslims and Christians, there are no enemies.

There have been almost 100,000 refugees who have crossed the Ubangui river to the Democratic Republic of Congo since the end of 2012. For these refugees and the people who live in the Mole refugee camp, Zongo is the referral hospital where they come to get not only a dosing of medicine, but also a visible witness of compassion, no matter where the patient is from.
