Pope Francis will canonize Lodovico Pavoni. This priest is not famous for his theological writings but for having changed the lives of thousands of young people in the north of Italy.
He was born in 1784 in Brescia. He was ordained a priest at a very young age and he started one of the first Catholic technical institutes in Italy.
There he trained poor youth, and they learned the craft of typography and bookbinding. He also made the classes accessible for the deaf.
Thanks to this initiative, Lodovico Pavoni is considered the forefather of vocational training. ;
The future saint founded the Congregation of the Sons of Mary Immaculate, or Pavonians, that carry on his work in countries such as Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Cplombia, Philippines, and Eritrea. ;
