The pope said the Church needs to find 'adequate, evangelical and brave answers to the challenges of the men and women of our time.

In a meeting with the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, he stated that the Church must be ready to welcome, accompany, and evangelize.

The congregation have held their General Chapter on the 200th anniversary of their creation by St. Eugí¨ne de Mazenod. During their meeting, Pope Francis spoke about how the French Revolution forced this priest into exile, but that did not diminish his missionary zeal.

POPE FRANCIS
'In its beginnings, your congregation had to work to rekindle the faith that the French Revolution had been extinguishing in the hearts of the poor in the countryside in Provence, where even many ministers of the Church perished.

The congregation re-elected their current Superior General,  American Louis Lougen. He thanked the pope for this audience and he even said a few words in Spanish.

'Holy Father, we love you very much.
