Pope Francis led an unusual Angelus on Sunday, after the Mass for the Jubilee of Catechists. Instead of doing it from the window in the Apostolic Palace, he held it in St. Peter's Square.
It was also a shorter version than usual, with very little improvisation from the pope.
Pope Francis condemned the violent acts in Mexico that took the lives of three priests, allegedly kidnapped and murdered in their parishes.
POPE FRANCIS
'I assure the beloved Mexican people of my prayer for them, so that the violence, which has also struck priests, stops.â?
He also remembered Engelmar Unzeitig, the German priest, murdered in a concentration camp, who was beatified this weekend in Germany.
POPE FRANCIS
'He was the victim of a hateful murder in the extermination camp in Dachau. In the face of hate, he showed love, in the face of ferocity, he showed gentleness. Let his example help us be testimonies of charity and hope in the midst of tribulation.â?
Pope Francis also mentioned the celebration of the World Deaf Day, and he thanked these people for their contributions to the Catholic Church.
