At the Sunday Angelus, the pope asked for a brave Church that will not stay within predetermined walls and barriers, but would dare to go down unexplored and uncomfortable paths. He praised priests and religious who do this, even at the risk of their own life.

POPE FRANCIS
'Their exemplary witness reminds us that the Church doesnâ??t need bureaucrats and diligent office workers, but impassioned missionaries consumed by the ardour of bringing the consoling words of Christ and His grace to all people.'

Pope Francis encouraged Christians to entrust their heart to the fire of the Holy Spirit, a force that transforms from within and eliminates all human miseries. He insisted that, especially today, there's a need for disciples who are able to reach those most in need.

POPE FRANCIS
'Now more than ever, thereâ??s a need for priests, consecrated people and lay Christians to feel compassion and reach out like good neighbours to others, putting themselves in front of material and spiritual poverty, thus characterizing the way of evangelization and mission with the healing rythym of proximity.'

Finally, he requested that a special closeness with those who suffer most, such as the homeless, the needy or refugees is demonstrated within the Church.
