The Catholic world has been looking to Poland this past week during World Youth Day. It is a country with an arduous past, consisting of Soviet communist dominance which was instituted after World War II up until 1989.
The documentary, 'Liberating a Continent: John Paul II and the Fall of Communism,' highlights this period and how the late pope contributed to changing the future of not only his country, but the world.

'One of the reasons why we were inspired to make this film is for the next generation. The generation that perhaps did not know John Paul II. There is a generation that is graduating college, entering the work force that did not have the experience of getting to know this pope and learning about him.'
As the current generation lives in the aftermath of this period, the documentary desires to share the legacy and great moral lessons that were learned from his role in the fall of communism.
Not only are his political convictions explained, but his faith. John Paul II had a belief in the dignity of every human person and this spurred the actions he made for freedom, both in politics and religion.

'There's so many tremendous blessings in this film, in the legacy of John Paul II, and that's why we set out to make this film. And it was a wonderful process.'
Creators hope the dramatic and incredible moments in the documentary will resognate with viewers in a way that will send 'shivers down their spine.'
