During the Angelus, Pope Francis lamented that civilians, especially children, are the victims who suffer the most from the war in Syria. He also made this powerful comment.
POPE FRANCIS
'Unfortunately, we continue to hear the news on Syria's civilian casualties of war, especially in Aleppo. It is unacceptable that so many defenseless people, many children also have to pay the price of conflict, the price of the stubbornness of heart and peace unwillingness of those in power.'
He invited the pilgrims to have a moment of silence and pray for the Syrian people. Afterwards, they prayed a Hail Mary together.
The pope also explained that often evil is unleashed when a person feels they own the life of another.

'So many injustices, violence and everyday evils are born of the idea of behaving like 'the gatekeepers' in charge of other people's lives.â?
He recalled that in this life there is no point holding on to material things or money because it will not serve us after death. He said that it should be used to serve others.

'We cannot be so attached to money, to have so many things... Because, in the end, we can not take them with us. Remember that 'the shroud has no pockets.''
Finally, he said that the fact that God promises eternal life does not mean there is not work to be done in order to improve the living conditions of this world, especially for the weakest.
