Italian artist, Dario Gambarin, from northern Italy, created this image of Brazil's Christ the Redeemer statue with his 40-year-old tractor to kick off the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro on Friday, Aug. 5. He calls it 'The Olympics of Mercy.

'The image of the Redeemer I drew with a pencil on a sheet, and I added the five rings. Then I went to study the terrain to map its size and its shape. I tried to fix the image in my head and with the power of imagination I created the work of art.

The 47,000 square meter field in Verona depicts the message Gambarin hopes to send to the world. He combined the image of Christ the Redeemer, one of the seven wonders of the world, with the five Olympic rings, and says it represents the Jubilee Year of Mercy.

He is meticulous in the way he creates his art and has a plan that he follows.

'It was a completed in a way that does not allow for mistakes, because once the ground is plowed you cannot change it. It is like cutting a canvas. The work must be drawn and filmed in real time because once the sun hits the Earth, the darkness fades and after a few hours it disappears. You cannot see anything.

This was not the first time he has created a grand work of art. He has designed Easter greetings, a kickoff to the Jubilee year and even the face of Pope Francis.
