The official WYD app, 'Pilgrim,â? has been launched in preparation for the youth meeting and received more than 5,000 downloads in the first hour of its official release.

The free application has been created by the Archdiocese of Krakow to help attendees navigate the country of Poland, with beneficial phrases and maps of the city.

There are various shortcuts on 'Pilgrim,â? including a prayer list and songbook, a guide to monuments in Krakow and Malopolska, phrasebook with common Polish sayings and even advice on how to handle various medical emergencies, should they happen during the encounter.

There is a detailed map with churches, theaters and restaurants marked for those visitors who do not know the streets of Krakow very well, with the ability to mark certain landmarks in their 'favorites.

The app will be updated daily with any new information from the day or tips that could be beneficial for the following day, so users are advised to update it nightly.

While the app needs to be downloaded with wifi, a majority of the application can be used without data, so everyone has access regardless of their cell phone plan. The app is available on Google Play, Windows and the App Store.
