'To the Argentinians who are here...

Patriotism and attention to those who suffer. This is what Pope Francis has asked for in the letter he wrote to the people of Argentina, in celebration of the bicentennial of their independence.

He wants the whole nation to 'not sell the Motherland. He prays that Latin America will be free of ideological colonization. He also wanted to remember this special date to the needy. He remembered the unemployed, victims of trafficking and those who 'suffer the scourge of drugs. He said that they are the most wounded belonging to the Homeland.

He also recalled that the country's future is in the hands of the young and old. Of the elders, he said, because they are the memory that should serve to inspire young people. And for the youth, he concluded, that they should not 'retire their existence following empty proposals.
