This week the Pope will again ascend in an airplane, for the third time this year. After his long journey to Mexico and his brief trip Lesbos, now Pope Francis is traveling to Armenia.
Precisely because of the intensity of the trip, the first four days of the week will be quiet for the Pope at the Vatican.
He will continue mass at Casa Santa Marta, and Wednesday morning, like always, he will give his catechesis to thousands of pilgrims who come to St. Peter's Square in Rome.
Pope Francis will land in Yerevan, the Armenian capital, early Friday afternoon. After praying in the cathedral, he will visit the President of the Republic Serzh Sargsyan and meet with Karekin II, Catholicos, the chief bishop of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
On Saturday, Pope Francis will visit the memorial of the Armenian genocide and move to the city of Gyumri to celebrate a mass. After he will return to Yerevan to lead a prayer for peace.
On Sunday, the Pope will pray at the monastery Khor Virap, which borders with Turkey. He will land in Rome on Sunday night to conclude his intense week.
