During the Sunday Angelus, the Pope spoke about the need for Christ in the world through the Luke Gospel passage, when Jesus asks his disciples, 'Who do you say that I am?â?
The Pope said that many feel a 'voidâ? in their life and others have anxiety about the unknown or the future. He stressed that peace and fulfillment in every aspect of life is possible, but only through Christ and by picking up the cross.

''If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.' This is not an ornamental or an ideological cross, but it is the cross of our daily lives and the sacrifices we make for the sake of others, parents, children, families, friends and even our enemies. It is the cross of solidarity with the poor of our commitment to justice and peace.â?
As Monday, June 20, is the U.N.â??s World Day of Refugees, the Pope remembered those whose daily crosses seem quite heavy. He called people throughout the world to 'renew the commitment to build peace within justice.â?

'Refugees are people like everyone else, but to which the war has taken away home, work, relatives, friends. FLASH So we want to be with them, meet them, welcome them, listen to them, to become a set of peacemakers.â?
Pope Francis encouraged the pilgrims, saying that when caring for others, the Holy Spirit will give the grace and strength necessary to press onward in the 'journey of faith and to bear witness to Him.â?
A strength that may have already been given to the crowd during the prayer, as they were able to withstand the Roman hot, summer sun.
