More than 2000 years ago, a man from Galilea was killed; however, three days later, this same man rose from the dead, leaving believers and non-believers alike mystified. This action proved he had spoken truthfully and was in fact the son of God, the Messiah.

This is the core of what Christians believe.

The book 'Did Jesus Really Rise from the Dead?' looks at the resurrection from many different approaches: historically, spiritually and theologically, providing factual evidence for the reality of this phenomenon.

CARL E. OLSON
Author, 'Did Jesus Really Rise from the Dead?'
'I spend quite a bit of time early in the book explaining why the resurrection is so important, what it means for Christians, why it's not just one more thing in the Creed, but it's at the very heart. It's so intimately connected to our belief in God as Trinity and, of course, Christ as true God and true man, the incarnation.

Coming from an anti-Catholic, fundamentalist, Protestant background, it was Church history and the defense of the faith that drew author, Carl Olson, into the Catholic Church.

The book speaks of how the resurrection and Bible have tried to be explained while eliminating all supernatural elements, and how personal biases against judaism, tradition and ritual also impacted the belief of the resurrection, at one point giving Jesus the identity of an 18th-19th century liberal German protestant.

CARL E. OLSON
Author, 'Did Jesus Really Rise from the Dead?'
'Ultimately Christianity is such a historical faith, it's so rooted in time and space and in actual events. So I want people hopefully to connect, to find a connection back to the early Christians and to Scripture and to grow in our understanding and love for those things.â?

The resurrection could be a stolen cultural theme, a mystical legend, a supposed dream or a simple hallucination the disciples had from the death of Jesus Christ. However, the present historical facts debunk all of these beliefs, leaving only one truth: Jesus Christ truly rose from the dead.
