During Pentecost Mass the Pope said that in today's world, people live in an orphanage. He said the aspiration to live without God leaves a deep longing in man of the 21st century. A man who does not know God, his father, and also does not know how to address him because he has nobody to teach him to pray. Today, said Francis, there is a great 'spiritual illiteracy.

POPE FRANCIS
'In the all-too-common spiritual illiteracy which renders us incapable of prayer; in the difficulty in grasping the truth and reality of eternal life as that fullness of communion which begins on earth and reaches full flower after death. Being children of God runs contrary to all this and is our primordial vocation. We were made to be Godâ??s children, it is in our DNA.â?

That same day the Vatican announced the Pope's message for World Mission Day to be held in October.

In it, Pope Francis highlights the work done by women missionaries and also that in times of crisis, injustice and war, is especially important to evangelize.
