Pope Francis met with Bulgarian President, Rosen Plevneliev, on Monday morning.
'Sit down, please.â?
The two leaders chatted for a few minutes behind closed doors.
Then came the exchange of the gifts. The Bulgarian President gave Pope Francis a picture of St. Clement of Ohrid, Bulgarian bishop from the ninth and tenth centuries, a saint in both the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.
He also gave a scroll summarizing the life of Saint Clement, who was the first disciple of St. Cyril and St. Methodius.
On his part, the Pope responded with copies of his encyclical Laudato si' and his apostolic exhortations, Evangelii Gaudium and Amoris Laetitia, in addition to a peace medallion, which he explained in detail.
'Make peace.'
The Bulgarian President parted with a warm goodbye, and the Pope, as always, asked him to pray for him.
-Thank you so much.
-Pray for me and I will pray for you.
-We love you. Thank you so much.
