The Pope uses tablets, takes selfies and utilizes new technologies to communicate with people who are on the other side of the planet. His Twitter has millions of followers, and he has now embarked on a new adventure through Instagram.

Pope Francis' example shows how one can reach out to and affect others, despite the distance. This is something that is also a dedicated part of the iMisión platform.

XISKYA VALLADARES
Founder, iMisión
'iMisión is primarily a group of Catholics of all kinds; all kinds of charisma, all kinds of  statuses - religious, priests, married people -, dedicated to digital evangelization, especially through social networks.'

In more than three years of activity, they have managed to utilize social networks to reach thousands of people for good causes, such as helping persecuted Christians in the Middle East. They also organize workshops to learn how to help others through the Internet.

'The feedback we have received through different sessions, either in person or through networks like Twitter, private messages, email or our whatsapp, have been a big boost to verify that we are in the right place.'

The Internet is a new space to share and learn, that's why, they say, they could not miss the opportunity to send this message of hope through the Gospel. Even in the limited 140 characters of Twitter or through a brief message on Facebook, it is possible to do much good.

DANIEL PAJUELO
Founder, iMisión
'One person sent me a private message through Twitter. It's a very tough story because his father committed suicide. We met through a campaign we did in iMisión and he started following my profile. He found a song in my group I had shared about joy in difficult times, and he told me it had helped him during this time of his life.'

Because there are no borders within the digital continent, the project is now spreading to Latin America.

JAVIER ROSETE
iMisión
'It is a necessity. Shepherding 2.0., and making a digital community where everyone can share with us. Having these spaces on the Internet is very necessary.'

Anyone can join iMisión and be an iMisionero, or iMissionary. But of course, bringing the gospel message to the world in the 21st century requires a few tools, such as a good smartphone and keyboard skills.
