For the Pope, Holy Week begins with a Monday full of meetings. He will meet with the Grand Duke of Luxembourg and his family, and also with former French president Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni.
His next big event is on Wednesday in St. Peter's Square for the general audience.
On Holy Thursday, Pope Francis celebrates Chrism Mass in the Vatican at 9:30 am. In the afternoon, he will visit refugees and migrants. He will celebrate with them the Mass of the Easter Triduum and according to the traditional rite, will wash the feet of 12 of them. In previous years, on the same day he visited a juvenile prison, a nursing home and a Roman prison in Rebbibia.
On Good Friday, in addition to presiding over the liturgical celebration in St. Peter's Basilica, the Pope will then go to the monumental Colosseum of Rome to pray the Via Crucis at dusk.
On Saturday, the Easter Vigil begins at 8:30 pm, local Rome time. On Sunday, Pope Francis will celebrate Easter Mass at 10:15 am and will conclude the Holy Week with his Easter message and Urbi et Orbi blessing.
