In response to Pope Francis declaring an Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, the Polish Church has created a cellphone app that allows users to keep a personal record of their Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. The app was given to the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization as a birthday gift for the Pope.
'Misericors' is very interactive and allows people to incorporate good deeds into their daily lives. Upon opening the app, the user is able to choose a Work of Mercy, and then specify how he plans on carrying that work out.
For example, one could choose, 'Visit the Sick,â? and then type, 'I visit my neighbor in the nursing home.â? The user may then upload a photo of the act, add a hashtag, and click either 'will do itâ? or 'will pray.â?
'Misericorsâ? gives users the opportunity to connect their spiritual and social lives by allowing them to share their good deeds on their 'wall,â? and to subscribe to other users' accounts so they can be inspired by their deeds as well.
This app is available for both Apple and Android products and can be translated into thirteen languages, including English, Spanish, Italian, and French.
