'Rogelio!â?
This is what the affectionate encounter between the Pope and the new ambassador of Argentina to the Holy See, Rogelio Pfirter looked like.
'Excellency, you can officially present your credentials.â?
'Most Holy Father: a story.'
It was a very emotional meeting because the Pope was his teacher in 1964. He taught literature and so the new ambassador called his credentials in this way; 'a story.â? Writing was one of the hobbies that former professor Bergoglio instilled in his students. At the time, Pope Francis was only 28-years-old and was not yet a priest.
Pfirter was accompanied by his father.
'You don't look your age. You don't look it. It has been 50 years since we last saw each other.â?
The emotional meeting comes just days before the Argentine president, Mauricio Macri and Pope Francis will meet at the Vatican.
The meeting will be held on Saturday and will not be the first time they see each-other. Both meet in Buenos Aires; Mauricio Macri as mayor of the city, and Jorge Mario Bergoglio as archbishop.
Then, in September 2013, Mauricio Macri visited the Pope at the Vatican, before he was president. He won the election in the country in November 2015. Therefore, this will be the first time the two meet as heads of state.
