Despite having witnessed the maladies of the Franco-Prussian war in 1870, he was still able to captured the beauty of the female form.

For the first time in Italy, the work of James Tissot is exposed. As a genre painter of love and fashion, each of his paintings tells a story. Sometimes his stories speak of joy and nostalgia and always feature a women as the protagonist ... They are strong women with unflinching stares ... or women with halos of mystery ... They all appear to be caught in a moment, as if they were looking at a target that is, in fact, the painter's brush.

Tissot was born in Nantes, France, but spent much of his life in London. Yet, it was his experiences living on both sides of the English Channel, both in Paris and London, that served as key influences in the painters life.

With a world wide recognition that reaches us all as observers today.

'It's really very interesting. I did not know him but his paintings seem precious. It is a very special exhibition.

With an influence that excels through the years. In the era of digital technology, the oil painting applied to his expertise sets an example.

'I think its important to start very young bringing children to museums for several reasons: For art appreciation, for respect of art that we are in a privilege to see today but also to follow rules and to be quiet and to have a moment were we focus, we concentrate and we appreciate colors and basically i let her interpret it anyway she wants.

Tissot was able to illustrate what no one else could... making him ahead of his time.

In the second half of his life, he placed a special emphasis on the Bible. He documented, in detail, full passages. Often, dressing his characters in clothes of his own era, as is the case in the return of the prodigal son.

His paintings are so realistic that they look as if the fringe on the woman's dresses can be touched.

This unique opportunity to see Tissot's famous works builds on a long history of recognition that has transcended onto this era.
