During the Sunday Angelus prayer, Pope Francis delve into one of the key themes of his pontificate: caring for the poor. He said that one must try to accomplish what Jesus preaches in the Gospel while helping the needy.

'Jesus directs his Good News to everyone, without excluding anyone. Moreover, giving priority to the most distant, those who suffer, the sick, to those that society has discarded.â?
The Pope explained that evangelizing the poor includes treating them well, serving them with joy, and delivering them from oppression. One must do all of this in the same way Jesus did.

'Today, in our parish communities, in the associations, in the movements, are we loyal to the program of Christ? The evangelization of the poor, bringing them the good news, is it a priority? Listen, it is not only about giving social aid, and much less about politics. It is about offering the force of the Gospel of God, that converts hearts, cures wounds, transforms human and social relations according to the logic of love.â?
Interestingly, despite the low temperatures in Rome, this week's Angelus was one of the most full in recent memory.
