On the same place where he was elected, Pope Francis presided over one of the most memorable ceremonies that can be seen in the Vatican: the baptisms.
A total of 26 babies were baptized. 13 boys and 13 girls, whose parents are, Vatican employees. During his homily, the Pope reminded parents that faith is the best legacy they can leave to their children.
POPE FRANCIS
'The Church, when you hand over the lighted candle, will tell you to keep the faith in these children. And, finally, do not forget that the greatest inheritance that you can give your children is faith. Be careful that this is not lost, so it can grow and leave as a legacyâ?.
The homily was particularly short. He told mothers that, if necessary, they could could feed their infants there.
POPE FRANCIS
'I say: if your child is hungry, feed them here, with complete freedomâ?.
Pope Francis was very delicate when baptizing the babies, he gently ran his hand over their heads, as to prevent them from getting too wet.
Then candles were lit, the candles that the Pope had previously spoken about, in regards to the light being symbolic of Christ, who arrives to a new soul.
