As the Catholic Church celebrated the feast of the Baptism of Jesus, Pope Francis spoke during the Angelus on this sacrament and some of its practical consequences.
POPE FRANCIS
'This stupendous reality of being children of God involves a responsibility of following Jesus, the obedient Servant, and reproduce in ourselves His features: that meekness, humility, tenderness. And this is not easy, especially when all around us there is so much intolerance, arrogance, harshness. But with the strength that comes from the Holy Spirit, it is possible!â?.
The Pope made a proposal to the pilgrims: that each one discover and celebrate the anniversary date of their baptism. He asked them to ask their parents or parish about the exact date.
POPE FRANCIS
'Homework for this week: go look for the date of your baptism. Celebrating that day means and reaffirms our attachment to Jesus, with the commitment to live as Christians, members of the Church and new humanity, in which all are brothersâ?.
Before leaving, the Pope also sent a special blessing to all children and young people and adults who have been baptized in recent months .
And then he said goodbye with his traditional greeting.
POPE FRANCIS
'Good lunch and goodbyeâ?.
