Pope Francis will travel to Mexico in February. But some Mexicans have already decided to visit him at the Vatican first.

POPE FRANCIS
'I see that there are many Mexicans here!

That's the case with these humble artisans, Simona and Catalina. They come from Chiapas, one of the regions the Pope will visit next year.

SIMONA Gí?MEZ Lí?PEZ
'Well, I'm very emotional and happy. I never thought I would meet the Pope.

CATALINA SíNCHEZ PÉREZ
'It was a blessing for me, that moment which I could greet him in. We gave him a handmade, artisanal tablecloth.

The tablecloth was designed with the colors of the Pope's football team, San Lorenzo. Simona, for her part, gave him a clay pigeon that symbolized peace.

The two women didn't come to the Eternal City just to see Pope Francis. They were also joined by the governor of Chiapas for the opening of a new exhibit on Mexican artisans at the Vatican Museums.

The lively colors in these images and paintings got the attention of visitors and tourists. They had no idea that their bags and bracelets would be displayed alongside some of the greatest art in history.
