For the first time, Pope Francis has visited the Vatican bank. He met for 20 minutes with the council that oversees it.
The Pope didn't stop by to make a withdrawal. Instead, he announced that Gian Franco Mammi had been named director general of the bank.
He also shared a private thought with them.

'I thank you, and please pray for me, because I need it. My job is not easy, not easy at all. But the Lord is good. I live it as a truth.â?
The Pope was accompanied by Jean Baptiste de Franssu, the Frenchman who has presided over the bank since July 2014.
