And not only did they acknowledge their admiration for the Pope but they also praised other figures such as the Saint Teresa of Avila in Spain. One of them even participated in an homage to her around the time of her 500th birthday.

Although their presence drew the attention of pilgrims and tourists, the relationship between the Church and the Eastern religions has improved considerably in recent years.
