After his meeting with Italian bishops at Florence's cathedral, Pope Francis had lunch at a Caritas food bank. He was accompanied by several people that were being helped by the ecclesial organization.

'If you will allow me, a small gesture. Every day those who come eat lunch for free. Each one has this small card. We give one to our cardinal, and we give one to you. Therefore, you are registered and can enter.

'This is how we know who is eating here. You will meet 60 people, some 30 Italians and the rest come from other countries: Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Romania, Ukraine, Peru.

Pope Francis was received in the food bank with applause and a great show of affection. One of the attendees gave him a 'chullo, a traditional Peruvian hat. The old woman won everyone's affection with her simplicity and gift.

'This is for you.

It isn't the first time that the Pope has visited a Caritas food bank. Just like the previous times, he ate privately with them. He then headed to a Florentine soccer field to preside over Mass, the final event of his brief visit to Florence.
