These men and women attracted attention all over St. Peter's Square. They came to Rome from Nigeria and represented the Knights of Saint Mulumba during an audience with Pope Francis.

'This is our first time of coming to St. Peter's Basilica. The first time we have a handshake with the successor of St. Peter. And we're going to carry this blessing to our country, Nigeria.â?
Minutes after his encounter with the Pope, one of the Knights commented that he felt the Pope's spirituality when he was near him. He also made a request.

'I spoke with him. I told him, 'Your Holy Father, we want you to visit my country Nigeria and come and bless our country.' That's what I told him. He smiled and nodded. So I believe, very soon, he will come to Nigeria.â?
They also said they were praying for the success of the Synod on the Family.
They wore the distinctive national uniforms of the Knights of Saint Mulumba. The organization was founded more than 60 years ago in Nigeria. Their goal is to bring Catholics together for the well-being of the Church, as well as their country.

The group had plenty of other stops on their itinerary. But first, they spent time taking photos with other pilgrims who admired their uniforms.
